Managing Large Herbivores in Protected Areas

Global Journal of Ecology Review Article By nature of their size, grouping behaviour, and central position within most trophic webs, large terrestrial herbivores -- namely ungulates and elephants -- tend to be both keystone and umbrella species. Their proportionately large impacts on ecosystems extend both top-down (i.e. regulation of vegetation), but also bottom up (regulated their predators). For these reasons, as well as their cultural and economic importance to humans around the world, large herbivores are among the most heavily managed species in any region. Large herbivores have historically been managed by the fact that hunting by humans – or an intentional or forced reduction in that hunting – effectively plays its own top-down role of regulating herbivores. http://www.peertechz.com/Ecology/pdf/GJE-1-101.pdf

Prospects for the Development of a Dengue Vaccine

Journal of Vaccines and Immunology Research Article Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease which is currently an important and rapid growing health problem across the globe. Four closely related dengue serotypes cause the disease, which ranges from asymptomatic infection to undifferentiated fever, dengue fever (DF), and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). Specific antiviral medications are not available for dengue and successful treatment, which is mainly supportive, depends on early recognition of the disease and careful monitoring for shock. Prevention of dengue depends on the control of the mosquito vector which has had only limited success. Development of a dengue vaccine is seen as a new tool to prevent this potentially fatal disease.   http://www.peertechz.com/Vaccines-Immunology/pdf/JVI-2-115.pdf

Role of Physiotherapy in Cancer-Related Fatigue in Cancer Survivors - A Narrative Review

Journal of Novel Physiotherapy and Physical Rehabilitation Review Article Cancer-related fatigue is one of the most common problems experienced by 70% of cancer patients during and after chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Psychological problems like depression, anxiety and mood variations follow the diagnosis of cancer and subsequent treatment with chemotherapy. The incidence of psychologic problems is found to be greater when cancer is associated with activity limitations. Psychological problems such as fatigue, anxiety and depression are assessed using unidimensional and multi-item unidimensional tools. Clinical trials have shown that physical activity in the form of brisk walking is beneficial in minimizing the effect of psychological effects by reducing the fatigue levels, depression, anxiety and enhancing the quality of life in cancer survivors. http://www.peertechz.com/Novel-Physiotherapy-Physical-Rehabilitation/pdf/JNPPR-3-132.pdf

Hence, some European educationists propose for stream lining of different course curriculum. http://www.peertechz.com/Systems-Biology/pdf/ASB-1-101.pdf

Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy vs. Elective Neck Dissection in Patients with T1/T2 N0 Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma: A Matched Pair Analysis

International Journal of Oral and Craniofacial Science Research Article Background: The management of the clinically and radiological negative neck in patients with early squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck (HNSCC) is still controversial. As approximately 20 to 30% of these patients harbor occult neck disease, most of them is submitted to elective neck dissection with no benefit in great majority of those cases. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLB) is a potential method for staging of lymphatic metastasis in HNSCC and the status of the sentinel node predicts the presence of metastasis in the remainder of the nodes within the nodal basin. http://www.peertechz.com/Oral-Craniofacial-Science/pdf/IJOCS-2-118.pdf

Proteomic Analysis Reveals GLUT1 to be a Novel Discriminating Marker of Human Arterial Endothelium In vivo and loss of Venous Identity in Cell Culture

Open Journal of Proteomics Research Article Despite greatly improved understanding of endothelial heterogeneity, the number of molecules discriminating human arterial and venous endothelium remains limited. Indeed, there have been few reports validating markers proposed in animal model studies in freshly isolated human tissues. http://www.peertechz.com/Proteomics/pdf/OJP-1-101.pdf

Journal of Gynecological Research and Obstetrics Case Report Introduction: Fetomaternal haemorrhage (FMH) refers to the passage of fetal erythrocytes to the maternal circulation. In most pregnancies, small amounts of fetal erythrocytes can cross over to the maternal circulation without causing problems for the fetus. In rare occasions, the FMH can result in fetal anaemia or in fetal death. http://www.peertechz.com/Gynecological-Research-Obstetrics/pdf/JGRO-2-121.pdf

Complete Percutaneous Management of Lutembacher Syndrome with Severe Pulmonary Hypertension in a Middle Aged Indian Female: Is this the Magic Wand?

Global Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Reports Case Report Lutembacher syndrome is a combination of ostium secundum atrial septal defect with acquired rheumatic mitral stenosis. This is a case of middle aged woman who had lutembacher syndrome with severe pulmonary hypertension with class IV symptoms. She had very severe mitral stenosis with valve area of 0.7 cm2 and ostium secundum atrial septal defect of 14 mm size. The management of lutembacher syndrome was only surgical till 1990s. Total percutaneous management has been described in late 1990s. Percutaneous management is relatively cheaper option and saves the patient from artificial valve and related complications. However, only a small number of cases of total percutaneous management of this condition are available in world literature. http://www.peertechz.com/Clinical-Case-Reports/pdf/GJMCCR-3-128.pdf

Isolated Right Ventricular Myocardial Infarction: An Orphan in Acute Coronary Syndrome Imaging

Global Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Reports Case Report Introduction: Isolated right ventricular myocardial infarction is an uncommon entity in the spectrum of acute coronary syndrome. It is often overlooked during the assessment of patients suspected to have acute coronary syndrome. Case Presentation: A 58 years old male presented with atypical chest discomfort. The initial ECGs were not supporting. The Echocardiogram revealed an isolated right ventricular myocardial wall motion abonrmality that was initially missed. Coronary angiogram revealed a co-dominant circulation with 100% occlusion of proximal right coronary artery. The distal right coronary artery was receiving collateral from left circulation. Successful angioplasty of right coronary artery was done with almost complete recovery of right ventricular function. http://www.peertechz.com/Clinical-Case-Reports/pdf/GJMCCR-3-127.pdf

CCK-2/Gastrin-R Immunodistribution in a Solid Pseudopapillary Pancreatic Tumor: A Case Report of a 28-Years-Old North African Woman

Global Journal of Medical and Clinical Case Reports Case Report The presence of a large bulky pancreatic tumour in a young female should raise suspicions of the diagnosis of solid-pseduopapillary tumour of the pancreas. Solid pseudopapillary neoplasms of the pancreas are uncommon, accounting for only 1-2% of all pancreatic neoplasms. These tumors are being detected at an increased rate, probably due to the increased awareness and the liberal use of imaging. http://www.peertechz.com/Clinical-Case-Reports/pdf/GJMCCR-3-126.pdf

Weak Correlation between Clinical Parameters and Polysomnography Findings

Archives of Otolaryngology and Rhinology Review Article Purpose : since about only 30% of polysomnography results confirm the indications, it would be useful to identify clinical data predictive of positive results. The objective is to evaluate the correlation between clinical data and polysomnography findings in a cohort of patients. Methods : 237 polysomnographies and the related clinical data from 226 patients were evaluated retrospectively. Results: the clinical suspicion and the polysomnography findings presented a positive correlation of 69%. However, none of the clinical parameters studied – age, body mass index, neck circumference and Epworth index - was a good predictor of examination. Conclusion: Clinical diagnosis of the syndrome is more important than an isolated assessment of any factor. http://www.peertechz.com/Otolaryngology-Rhinology/pdf/AOR-2-123.pdf

Clinical Circadian Behaviour of Infantile Allergic Rhinitis

Archives of Otolaryngology and Rhinology Review Article Objectives: In a week, not every day the patient with allergic rhinitis will have symptoms; also, in a year, not every month the patient will have complaints. Therefore, the clinical evaluation of allergic rhinitis in children should take in consideration the frequency of symptoms and the circadian cycle. Methods: forty patients at an outpatient service of general pediatrics who had been diagnosed as presenting active allergic rhinitis were invited to fill up a questionnaire where the symptoms had to be registered at each period of the day, during the following 7 days. Results: thirty patients completed the study. Each child presented a distinct pattern of weekly behavior, which was seen at the high values of standard deviations. The frequency of the symptoms were significantly reduced between midday and 16:00 hour. http://www.peertechz.com/Otolaryngology-Rhinology/pdf/AOR-2-122.pdf

Corrosive Injury of the Upper Gastrointestinal Tract: A Review

Archives of Clinical Gastroenterology Review Article Ingestion of a corrosive substance can produce severe injury to the gastrointestinal tract and can even result in death. The degree and extent of damage depends on several factors like the type of substance, the morphologic form of the agent, the quantity, and the intent. In the acute stage, perforation and necrosis may occur. Long-term complications include stricture formation in the esophagus, antral stenosis and the development of esophageal carcinoma. Endoscopy should be attempted and can be safely performed in most cases to assess the extent of damage.Procedure related perforation is rare. Stricture formation is more common in patients with second and third degree burns. This review summarizes our current knowledge and evidence based management of this unique but not uncommon pathology of the upper gastrointestinal tract. http://www.peertechz.com/Clinical-Gastroenterology/pdf/ACG-2-122.pdf
